Fandom: Ninpocho again
Title: Don't have one, this was an experiment.
Rating: Hard R
Pairing: Renzo/Tatsuya
Type: One-shot
Warnings: Graphic sex (M/F), genderswap (Tatsuya is physically female, but thinks of himself as male).
PoV: Tatsuya's
Spoilers: No.
Other: I decided to write smut. Here it is. I'm posting it because a few people in chat wanted to read it, for some reason. Oh dear, I think this pairing is actually semi-popular where I frequent. Or maybe it's because I was asking them things about female...things, and therefore actually let them know I was writing it. Tatsuya is my character, which is why it's in his point of view.

Fandom: Pokémon (Gen V)
Title: Pokémon White: Shaymin Adventures (until I get a better title)
Rating: PG (for now, may rise due to violence)
Pairing: Potential N/White
Type: On-going
Warnings: AU, Pokémon as human
PoV: White (Shaymin)
Spoilers: For Pokémon White, entire game.
Other: This is basically a novelization of the 'extra' things I imagined around the margins of the game while playing it. See, while I was playing I decided to do something novel with my playthrough plot because Gamefreak had done something different with it, and that means using something I'd only dabbled with before. The protagonist (White, the female lead) is Shaymin, the Nature Spirit Pokémon, given human form in order to avert the disaster of Pokémon and humans being separated, as ordered by Arceus. Cresselia is her 'mother,' meant to give aid where needed. There are references to 'a past encounter with Darkrai' here too, that isn't meant to be a movie reference but rather one of my previous 'Shaymin' plays through Leaf Green. (Shaymin/Silmeria here is Mild, Cresselia is Bashful.)

This part definitely wasn't supposed to happen, since she wasn't really a human.Collapse )

New idea.

Summary: It's several years after BN6. Random people from all over the world have suddenly started acting as if they were under the influence of Dark Power. A treatment is devised and is apparently successful, but without fail, several weeks after being treated, all these people begin to exhibit symptoms again--without being under the influence of the darkness. This is traced back to Soul Net's activation, but there is no apparent connection between any of those affected. What's more, those who have information on things aren't talking.

Extra stuff: Chaud and Lan are taking each others' courses for each other at university--because they don't quite yet want to tell their parents, especially Chaud's father, they're more interested in each others' majors. Getting the Team back together--at least occasionally. Past issues between Lan and Chaud's families? Something about a social worker. Mayl's one of the affected.

-Scene with Mayl going a bit nuts from the aftereffects. Laika enters with tranquilizer rifle, put this scene early to set up Chaud getting Team ProtoMan back together.
-Scene with Laika giving the duo the medical files and explaining the lack of connection.
-Scene in the research lab with the files getting handed over. (Bonus points for getting that thing in, having either Chaud or Lan turn on the charm to get the woman they hand the files to to stress the secrecy? Further bonus points for it being Chaud and Laika calling him a 'ladykiller' after. *snerk*)
-Scene with Lan and Chaud outlining their home lives and explaining to Laika why they don't want to tell their parents about the extra stuff.
-Scene in Sci-Lab with -awkwardness- with Lan's dad. Reveal Chaud ended up leaking the details of the files about a week after giving them to the research lab.

For some reason it keeps cropping up in my head that this could be a sequel of sorts to Balancer, though that doesn't entirely work as both are, since in that Chaud went to university at the end of the games and in this he took a few years off to do Official work, and in that Lan and Mayl are dating while in this they're just friends still. Not to mention the Navis are the main characters in that, while this focuses more on the humans. Plus in that Chaud had no real issues with his father and most of his personal angst is working out to be with ProtoMan, and he and Lan were perfectly interested in their canon paths. Basically this is a more mild AU than I usually do, but still AU, while Balancer could probably slot into canon if not for one or two tiny details...

So hey, I get random ideas sometimes that mutate and grow life of their own. In fact, that's how I write both stories and characters. They just kind of sprout and grow like mushrooms. While this is somewhat of a problem, being as they are generally a little too far out there, some of them aren't.

The reason this is coming up now is that I want to do FanNo this year. The only significant difference, I believe (besides one being for fanfic), is that the goal for FanNo is 25k words as opposed to 50k.

Now, I'm not entirely sure whether I want to do Balancer for FanNo (I'd need to rewrite the first couple chapters anyway), or do something for FanNo, and use the motivation gained from finishing the something in order to do up Balancer.

I've got a few options, though.

Title: Strawberry Ice Cream
Verse: EXE Games, English (one minor detail stolen from the English anime)
Pairing: MegaMan/ProtoMan, potential others
Type: AU
Summary: ...guess who else is a twin, and was human? Yep. Only, Blues Blaze died when he was six years old, not one, so young Chaud knew and remembers his brother. That's a little painful. Blues was never very serious, though (and is distinctly not), so Chaud writes up a second personality program for Blues, the ProtoMan.bat program that is permanently installed. Blues activates it during Official missions and battles, and is perfectly content dealing with just his brother and not arguing with the arrangement--until MegaMan comes along, and everything fractures.
Tone: Despite the summary, it's fairly fluffy, with most of the darkness that of the games played a bit more realistically. It would be one-off bits up until a certain turning point.
Used?: Yeah, two of my RP journals are from a vague splinter of it.

Title: Soul Unison
Verse: EXE Manga
Pairing: Enzan/Meiru
Type: Continuation/AU
Summary: The potential Serenade instilled to Soul Unison was not just to Rockman and Netto, to allow them to be the base for another Navi's powers, but also to Blues and Enzan, to allow them to lend their powers out. This potential doesn't surface until Duo encroaches upon the earth, unwilling to listen to humanity's defense of themselves until confronted by a shining light of healing energy from...Full Synchro Roll, Soul Unison with Blues. From there, Meiru and Roll join the team to race around the world to stamp out the evil Duo senses before he decides it's too late.
Tone: It's a little dark, but mostly in line with the manga, which is itself somewhat dark. The implication that it had to be Blues and Rockman doing Soul Unison the first time it activated is already in the manga, so I just took Blues's side to its logical conclusion.
Used?: Yep, I have the snippet that sparked the idea lying around here somewhere.

Title: Hypothetical Scenario
Verse: EXE Anime
Pairing: None, really.
Type: Continuation/AU.
Summary: A freak accident with new technology causes Blues and Rockman to be taken over by their Dark forms, sending them renegade and Netto and Enzan to frustration. The problem arises when the two Dark Navis join forces, with a simple idea in mind: Dark Blues just wants to kill Enzan, Dark Rockman wants to make Netto suffer. So what can they do to accomplish both at once?
Tone: Dark, depressing. Blah. It's largely a dead idea and I've scribbled large chunks of it down already.
Used?: Yeah, mostly done.

Title: Playing With Fire
Verse: EXE Anime-ish.
Pairing: Blues/Rockman, somehow seems to be sort of Netto/Enzan
Type: Complete AU
Summary: Yes, magic is real, but never mind that just yet. Netto and Enzan were born to each others' canon families. Yeah, you can blame magic for that, too. Which makes Netto a spoiled rich brat who manipulates those around him into thinking he's dumber than he is, and Enzan an aggravating, abrasive young genius who relates badly to people. And they're both convinced the only thing they can do properly is Netbattle. Yet they have to work together, eventually...poor Meiru and Blues, holding all that together.
Tone: About the same as the anime, slightly darker at points with an exception. I give them new stuff as well.
Used: This is also known as 'the plotbunny that ate my brain' for a reason.

Title: Spectrum
Verse: EXE Anime
Pairing: Netto/Iris, eventually.
Type: AU
Summary: Post-apocalypses are fun. Some fluke of the Spectrum technology, activated several years earlier, killed everyone past puberty. Society has largely collapsed and set itself back up a government under one of the few surviving people in the position to do something--Enzan. The problem is, things aren't really that well off, and he's sort of falling apart despite being gifted with special abilities due to being in Cross Fusion when the initial apocalypse happened. So was Netto, and he has them too, and you know what? He doesn't like how things are...but they're at a stalemate until the mysterious 'Programmer X,' a major collaborator on the original project who advocated waiting to activate it, promises to turn up--and turns out to be a strange, waif-like girl named Iris, who inexplicably has the Spectrum powers too despite owning no Navi...
Tone: Oh god. Oh, god. Okay, well, it's dark, post-apocalypse and all, but all three of them are crazy, so I'm not sure how else to describe it...
Used? Very brief one-shot based off it over on the writing comm. Did some planning on it on here.

Title: Balancer
Verse: EXE Games, English
Pairing: None, really.
Type: Continuation
Summary: So...ProtoMan was actually programmed a long time before Chaud was born, he's just memorized the code. Moreover, he holds the Balance Ultimate Program, with the Light being MegaMan's and the Dark Bass's. Now that things have mostly settled down, he's after the Super Programs, powerful programs that, for whatever reason, have been linked to the Ultimate Programs. With them, he'll be able to reshape the Net to allow Navis free will like he and the other Ultimate Program holders have. He enlists MegaMan and Lan and entrusts them with his secret, and for a while things go smoothly. Only, they're not the only ones seeking the Super Programs. Bass has caught word since the events of Blue Moon, and is gathering the programs to destroy them. And what on earth will the Officials do when they learn of all this?
Tone: Games-ish. I do painstaking research to make sure this one slots into canon. I.e., nothing in canon directly contradicts any of this, and most of the 'Super Programs' are things from the games. Plus, the concept of Ultimate Programs came up in the anime. It also feels like an RPG plot a little--collect the things to save the other thing. Only the good guys start moving on their own, not in response to the bad guys...

Six choices, the last of which I've already vowed I will finish at some point. Damn...

Title: Fallen Hero
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Renzo/Tatsuya (one-sided, as in canon)
Type: One-shot
Warnings: AU.
PoV: Tatsuya
Spoilers: No.
Other: So. This was inevitable. The Fallen Hero trope describes, well, a hero who has fallen to darkness. It's a pretty old, pretty popular theme, and some heroes just mold themselves to it. Canon Tatsuya is about an inch away from this on his bad days, so it's no inconceivable he could fall off the edge at any point. In fact, it's pretty likely. It's amazing he's still a good guy. However, in this, he's twisted and kind of fucked up in the head.

Warnings: Crack pairing, AU.

Spoilers: No.
Other: Ahahaha, the Bodyguard Crush's counterpart, Subordinate Excuse. I'm using the second variant here, in which it's the boss who keeps people around because they like them. Title: Only Sane Man
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: None
Type: One-shot
Warnings: Excess literalism, excessive rationality, weirdness.
PoV: Tatsuya's.
Spoilers: No.
Other: This one's just for fun. The Only Sane Man trope describes a character who, while of sound mind themselves, is the only one in the vicinity who is. They are the one who, when the weird stuff happens, stops, looks around at everyone and everything causing the weird stuff, and points out that this is not right. And then, is inevitably ignored by everyone else in the cast. Casting Enzan in this role seemed the best at first, since he is the outsider to everything, but then I realized Tatsuya would be much better. Enzan's outsider status is what makes him accept (and often cause) the weirdness of events, while Tatsuya possesses a healthy skepticism despite being confronted by curses, genetic manipulation, magic, and general stupidity. Timing babbleCollapse )

I don't care how it did work, it should not work that way.Collapse )

Title: From Nobody to Nightmare
Rating: 14+
Pairing: None
Type: One-shot
Warnings: Violence, deaths, mentions of non-con/incest, torture.
PoV: Tatsuya's.
Spoilers: No.
Other: ...So apparently I feel the need to occasionally twist my characters through painful tropes. The From Nobody To Nightmare trope describes a character who started out normal, even downtrodden, and ended up with power far above the other characters in their setting, usually villainous, and tend to end up the ultimate evil. So no prizes for guessing his alliances. Also, yes, I have noticed that all AU possibilities with Tatsuya have him being evil. This is because unless the world around him were different, it would be very difficult for him not to be. The in-play good version is walking the edge of a razor, really.

They looked at him in fear, he who should have been nothing, and do not know why.Collapse )

Both ICly and OOCly we have done nothing to your village. We sent spies, yes, but you sent people after us, too. Since you did it to no one else, it's pretty obvious you're just trying to antagonize us.

You're the ones discussing (OOCly) declaring war. We've done nothing to that effect.

More to the point, we aren't the ones who are discussing putting bounties on all your heads.

So go ahead. Try and come after us. but don't be surprised if the huge steel-toed boot of Sand's massive force kicks you in the head first.

Bias is a tricky thing. Everyone has it, because, well, it's just another word for opinion. It doesn't get to be a problem until it starts slanting too far and showing. At which point it is very difficult to be rational about it, step back, and look at it truly objectively. You may think you are being objective, but you are most likely not. If you dissect your thoughts properly, you will almost inevitably note that you are falling victim to some sort of bias. Confirmation bias is probably the most insidious (a bunch of other people say the same thing, so I and they must be right), disregarding that at one point we all thought the sun revolved around the earth and without ever actually questioning where this belief came from in the first place.

To draw back to the more relevant point, dissecting one's opinion on something isn't easy. You have to take it apart, examine the pieces, and then decide whether or not those pieces, individually, make sense. If you say you hate Hitler, for example, why? Certainly most people would say 'because of the Holocaust' or some such, but if you pick apart the individual pieces you'll find that, unless you were actually alive during that point, you can't possibly hate the man himself because you never met him. You can hate his actions, definitely, but there is nothing there to say you hate a person you never met.

You can, however, certainly hate the bully down the street who picks on kids, assuming you have met him. That is a genuine emotional response, a tangible one, based on your own opinions off of someone you have met. Hearsay is not a source for hate.

In much this same manner, you cannot rationally say you hate a group of people, the bulk of whom you've never directly met or even been exposed to. You can dislike the ideals they supposedly put forth, with the understanding that without interacting with them you can't genuinely understand them, but you cannot plausibly hate someone who you don't know. Since it is hard to speak on a decent level with most members of a group you have already determined not to like, this can be a type of self-perpetuating failure, a recursive loop in which the reason why you do not see anything good coming out of that group is because you already hate them and are determined not to, and thus see only their negative actions, which intensifies the dislike.

So, since we have established that you cannot rationally hate people you have not interacted with, and that bias is a type of opinion and often creates feeling of hate, we come to the main point.

Decisions in authority must be made with as little bias as possible. I.e., those in authority with bias are morally required to examine their bias and, if unable to discard it due to emotional reasons, allow a fellow authority to handle the situation. (If they wholly objectively take apart their bias and find it with cause, that is a different matter entirely. This is not about that.) If the authority in question is not able to ignore bias for the time spent dispensing their decisions and/or official rulings or notices, and in such a case displays an open and willful negative bias against a particular person or group, they should not be allowed to handle the target(s) in question. If this bias is allowed to disseminate and contaminate others, it can be very hurtful toward the victims of this bias. If nothing is done to curb this, it can be very dangerous, and larger community actions will need to be made.

An authority figure openly subscribing to negative bias can be much worse, owing to the tendency in groupings for people to parrot the authorities. This can be very dangerous to accuse someone of any more than indirectly, and is often the root cause of flame wars. When going back, it is seldom people can pin why they dislike a particular thing in these instances. Likely this is because the attitude of authority figures left them with little to no choice as to how to feel about the subject in question.

The showing of this bias does not have to be obvious, and in fact is much more effective when it is not. (To those intending to manipulate this, however, the winds of opinion are fickle and without due attention paid to the proper steps, will inevitably turn on you.) It can be as simple as overlooking punishments for those attacking the target of your bias, or merely attempting to soften or lessen them, to openly deriding them in areas in which you have authority but which cannot be detected by those you do not want to see. The former can be seen by anyone, but is subtle and insidious and might not be noticeable to those not looking for a pattern. The latter is more of a blunt hammer tool, and can easily backfire when discovered.

In full summary, those of you in authority ought to examine your histories of rulings and of opinions carefully. If any undue attention is focused on one particular group, positively or negatively, then it might be time to reexamine your beliefs on them. Quite often they are groundless. Rationally, logically, you should be able to clear your mind of bias at least long enough to treat situations properly.

That was what I ended up writing instead of what I at first wanted to write, which was this:

You biased fucktards, why the hell does it matter when people attack your section but not another section? Why the fuck is it okay for people to have a go at my section?

Yano what, go to hell, and take the people you're NOT punishing for the same crap with you.

I will play my character how I play him. If I tell you that, with provocation like the sort he's just had (which boils down to someone blowing the secret of something the person he's desperately in love with/overprotective of is incredibly afraid of people knowing) it's OOC for him to not kill that person? It's OOC for him to not kill that person.

No, no amount of bitching and complaining and telling me how to play me character (wtf?) will change what I know. No, sending out a message saying if he does so he'll be kicked from the corps won't change how he reacts. It might make him pause for a second, consider a couple points, cycle him through regret, since he loves his job and all, but in the end he would be more likely to challenge your character for HIS position if he carried out the threat. No, he wouldn't settle for inflicting torture on the guy for it--he wouldn't think that's enough for this particular sin. No, it's not because OOCly I want to handle the guy myself. OOCly I want to Five Element Seal him to screw him up and hand him over to your character, since he'd do worse than kill him.

And really, since the only reason you're harping on about my character taking petty IC revenge is because you want your character to take petty IC revenge for something else he did, I find that in this situation you are kind of the hypocrite.
